• Meet Katie

People make sense to me. Every story I hear has helped me better understand the person telling it.

I've always been more interested in understanding the person sitting in front of me than finding the “most right” therapy approach.

While I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapies, the question I'm continually asking myself isn't, "Which modality should I use today?"  It's, "What does this person need from me today?"

Some people need space to grieve. Some need to process trauma. Some need help quieting a nervous system that's been working overtime for years. Some need practical tools to navigate what's happening today while we gently begin understanding how they got here. Some need a space to feel angry and say hard things. Some simply need a safe place to say things they've never said out loud.

No two people have lived the same life. Even when two people have experienced something similar, the meaning they make of what happened to them, the way their nervous system responded, and the way those experiences continue to shape their lives can be very different.

I don't believe therapy should ever be one-size-fits-all. I believe my approach should adapt to the person sitting in front of me and what I've come to understand they need.

People make sense. My hope is to help you better understand your story, reconnect with your strengths, and discover that many of the patterns you've struggled with are not signs that something is wrong with you. More often, they're understandable ways you've learned to survive.

At the heart of it, I think we're all looking for many of the same things. We want to feel heard, understood, valued, and validated. That’s what I hope every person experiences when we work together.

A Few Things I Love

When I’m not working, I am often found:

spending time with my husband, golden retriever, Waffles, and family

(passionately) cheering on the Chicago Bears

traveling (most recent favorite trip: Banff and Canmore)

reading a great book (fiction, autobiographies, or self help genres)

going on hikes in nature (& I never turn down a beach day)

watching all the things on Apple TV
